Log Truck Crashes & Burns On Route 39 In Virginia

Mountain Grove, VA – An accident in which a logging truck went off the road on Virginia Route 39 Tuesday night in Virginia not far from the West Virginia state line is now under investigation by both the Virginia and West Virginia State Police. The accident occurred sometime between 11 and 11:30pm Tuesday night, according to Bath County Sheriff Larry Norfleet. The truck ran off the left side of the road, caught fire, and was completely destroyed.

Virginia State Police Sgt. R. J. Carpentieri says the driver of the truck was not found at the scene of the accident, and the drivers’ whereabouts is still under investigation. West Virginia State Police Trooper J. W. Gilkison confirmed Friday afternoon that they are investigating whether the truck may have been stolen from a local business in the Huntersville area. He says the owner of the truck is Kessel Mulch company.
