10-20-20 Pocahontas County Commission Meeting Agendas

The Pocahontas County Commission will hold two meetings. at their office in the County Courthouse in Marlinton on Tuesday, October 20th.

At 4:00 p.m. there will be a special meeting to publicly test the electronic voting equipment that will be used during the November 3rd general election.

The regular commission meeting will then start at 5:30 p.m. with the following agenda.

They will begin the meeting by approving any exoneration orders and approving the minutes of their previous meeting, followed by the opportunity for the public to comment to the commissioners at 5:35 p.m.

At 5:40 p.m., there will be a discussion and possible action regarding a letter of support for the Greenbrier Valley Economic Development Corporation regarding Pocahontas County Board of Education property.

At 5:50 p.m. the commissioners will hear from Circuit Court Clerk Connie Carr and will discuss and consider a resolution in support of the 2021-2022 Records Management and Preservation Board Grant.

At 6:00 p.m. the commissioners will hear from 911 Director Mike O’Brien and will open and award bids for excavation to the 911 Center parking lot.

At 6:30 p.m., there will be a Board of Assessment Appeals hearing regarding the Silver Creek Association and various parcels of real estate

The Commissioners will also take up the following items which are not assigned a specific time on the agenda.

  1. They will discuss and consider approving final Settlements and Orders
  2. The commissioners will be briefed on mail items and concerns received since their last meeting, and, after discussion, consider taking any appropriate actions on these.
  3. The Commissioners will then approve invoices prior to adjourning the meeting.

Tim is the WVMR News Reporter. Tim is a native of Maryland who started coming to Pocahontas County in the 1970’s as a caver. He bought land on Droop Mountain off Jacox Road in 1976 and built a small house there in the early 80’s. While still working in Maryland, Tim spent much time at his place which is located on the Friars Hole Cave Preserve. Retiring in 2011 as a Lieutenant with the Anne Arundel County Police Department in Maryland, Tim finally took the plunge and moved from Maryland to his real home on Droop Mountain. He began working as the Pocahontas County Reporter for Allegheny Mountain Radio in January of 2015.
