10-6-20 Pocahontas County Commission Meeting Agenda

The Pocahontas County Commission will hold its October 6th regular meeting starting at 8:30 a.m. at their office in the County Courthouse in Marlinton with the following agenda.

At 8:30 a.m., they will approve any exoneration orders and will approve the minutes from the prior meeting, followed by the opportunity for the public to comment to the commissioners at 8:35 a.m.

At 9:00 a.m. the commissioners will hear from the Mayors of Durbin, Hillsboro and Marlinton and discuss with them the COVID19 Block Grant funding distributions by the commission.

The Commissioners will also take up the following items which are not assigned a specific time on the agenda.

  1. They will discuss and consider approving final Settlements and Orders
  2. The commissioners will be briefed on mail items received since their last meeting.
  3. They will discuss and consider approving the lease renewal for the West Virginia Department of Forestry to continue their use of office space at the Former Shoe Factory Building in Marlinton.
  4. They will discuss and consider providing a letter of support for the the Greenbrier Valley Economic Development Corporation.
  5. They will consider continuing the designation the Greenbrier Valley Economic Development Corporation as the lead economic development organization for Pocahontas County for 2020-2021.
  6. They will respond to a letter which requests a change of classification of various properties.
  7. They will consider the purchase of an automatic sanitizer fogger.

The Commissioners will then approve invoices prior to adjourning the meeting.

Tim is the WVMR News Reporter. Tim is a native of Maryland who started coming to Pocahontas County in the 1970’s as a caver. He bought land on Droop Mountain off Jacox Road in 1976 and built a small house there in the early 80’s. While still working in Maryland, Tim spent much time at his place which is located on the Friars Hole Cave Preserve. Retiring in 2011 as a Lieutenant with the Anne Arundel County Police Department in Maryland, Tim finally took the plunge and moved from Maryland to his real home on Droop Mountain. He began working as the Pocahontas County Reporter for Allegheny Mountain Radio in January of 2015.
