12-1-20 Pocahontas County Commission Meeting Agenda

The Pocahontas County Commission will hold its December 1st regular meeting starting at 8:30 a.m. at their office in the County Courthouse in Marlinton with the following agenda.

At 8:30 a.m., they will approve any exoneration orders and will approve the minutes from the prior meeting, followed by the opportunity for the public to comment to the commissioners at 8:35 a.m.

At 8:45 a.m., the commissioners will take up the official certification of the November 3rd election.

At 9:00 a.m. the commissioners will hear from Robert P. Martin of the Snowshoe Resort Community District, who will request access to the Hotel Occupancy Tax Returns.

At 9:15 a.m. the Eight Rivers Council will discuss the CDC/National Institute of Occupational Health Project with the commission.

At 9:30 a.m. Kimberly Raleigh of Seneca Health Services will talk about the launch of Seneca Health Services’ Mobile Clinic.

At 9:45 a.m. Christine Mitchell of Dominium Services will update the commission about the Atlantic Coast Pipeline Project.

At 10:00 a.m. the commissioners will receive a request to remove the Executor of the Jean Evelyn Bennett Estate.

At 10:15 a.m. County Clerk Melissa Bennett will request the commissioners approve a resolution and of a 2020 HAVA CARES Act grant request for reimbursement for election costs related to COVID-19.

At 10:30 a.m. the Pocahontas County Libraries and Visitors Information Centers will deliver their annual update.

The Commissioners will also take up the following items which are not assigned a specific time on the agenda.

  1. They will discuss and consider approving final Settlements and Orders
  2. The commissioners will be briefed on mail items received since their last meeting.
  3. The Commissioners will then approve invoices prior to adjourning the meeting.

Tim is the WVMR News Reporter. Tim is a native of Maryland who started coming to Pocahontas County in the 1970’s as a caver. He bought land on Droop Mountain off Jacox Road in 1976 and built a small house there in the early 80’s. While still working in Maryland, Tim spent much time at his place which is located on the Friars Hole Cave Preserve. Retiring in 2011 as a Lieutenant with the Anne Arundel County Police Department in Maryland, Tim finally took the plunge and moved from Maryland to his real home on Droop Mountain. He began working as the Pocahontas County Reporter for Allegheny Mountain Radio in January of 2015.
