Agendas for Pocahontas Commission’s Special & Regular Meetings on October 19th

On Tuesday October 19th, the Pocahontas County Commission will hold both a Special Session at 10:00 am and a regular meeting at 5:30 pm.

The agenda for the Special Meeting is as follows.

At 10:00 am the CDBG Project Manager will discuss the contractual documents for the Pocahontas Memorial Hospital’s HVAV and Roof project.

At 11:00 am, there will be a discussion and possible action of the Linwood Alive sidewalk Project, and about the spending of the funds allotted to the county under the American Rescue Plan.

The commissioners will interview three bidding engineering companies for the Water Sewer project. Those are Dunn Engineering at 1:00 pm; E.L. Robinson at 1:30 pm; and Potesta at 2:00 pm.

They will then interview three bidding architectural firms for Pocahontas Memorial Hospital’s HVAC and Roof project. Those companies are Thompson and Litton at 2:30 pm; Becker-Morgan at 3:00 pm; and ZMN Architects at 3:30 pm.

The Regular Commission meeting will begin at 5:30 pm with the following agenda.

After normal opening procedures, the commissioners will receive any public input at 5:35 pm;

At 5:45 pm they will receive an update from Laura Finch, Fiduciary Commissioner, about the status of referred estates.

At 6:00, they will consider the purchase of a Frontier maintenance plan and service plan.

At 6:15, they will consider approval of a lease renewal with the West Virginia Division of F orestry for office space at the Former Shoe Factory

At 6:30 the commissioners will select the architectural firm for the Pocahontas Memorial Hospital HVAC and Roof project and the engineering firm for the Water Sewer project from among those firms interviewed during their earlier special meeting.

At 6:45, they will consider a resolution regarding the Greenbrier Valley Economic Development Corporation and their invoice for an annual assessment of the WV Community and Development LED matching grant.

Without being assigned a specific time on the agenda, the commissioners will approve final settlements and orders; address commission mail items and concerns; and approve invoices.

He bought land on Droop Mountain off Jacox Road in 1976 and built a small house there in the early 80’s. While still working in Maryland, Tim spent much time at his place which is located on the Friars Hole Cave Preserve. Retiring in 2011 as a Lieutenant with the Anne Arundel County Police Department in Maryland, Tim finally took the plunge and moved from Maryland to his real home on Droop Mountain. He began working as the Pocahontas County Reporter for Allegheny Mountain Radio in January of 2015.
