June 7th Pocahontas County Commission Meeting Agenda

The Pocahontas County Commission will meet in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 7th at the Commission’s office in the Courthouse in Marlinton, with the following agenda.

At 8:35 a.m. the commissioners will hear public comments.

At 8:45 they will hear from Donna Ward of Region 4, who will ask them to approve of a draw request to pay Becker Morgan invoices for the Pocahontas Memoria Hospital’s HVAC/Roof Replacement Project.

At 9:00, the commissioners have scheduled a discussion of unspecified legal issues.

At 9:15, they will take up the approval of the Farm the Sun contract.

At 9:30, the commissioners will consider approving an agreement with the Records Management and Preservation Board regarding the County Clerk and Circuit Clerk grants.

At 9:35, they will consider authorizing the employment of a full-time Law Enforcement Office Assistant for the Sheriff’s Office.

At 9:45, the commissioners will invite David Cain to discuss East Cass properties.

At 10:00, Doug Burns and Anita Workman, on behalf of the PCHS Football and Boosters programs, will request a contribution from the commission.

At 10:45 they will discuss with Amanda Smarr of Region 4 the resubmission of the Pocahontas County Asset Mapping Grant application.

At 11:00, the commissioners will discuss and consider action on a Vietnam Veterans of America proposal for a Veterans Memorial on the old hospital lot in Marlinton.

The commissioners will also discuss and consider action on the following items which do not have a specific time assigned to them

  1. Approval of final settlements and orders
  2. Mail items and concerns.
  3. Mike O’Brien will discuss a requested name change of Boyd Thompson Rd.
  4. Year-end budget revisions and resolutions for various county offices
  5. The disposal of a vehicle by the Pocahontas County EMS Board.
  6. The commissioners will make numerous appointments to nine commission boards.
  7. The meeting will end following approval of invoices

Tim is the WVMR News Reporter. Tim is a native of Maryland who started coming to Pocahontas County in the 1970’s as a caver. He bought land on Droop Mountain off Jacox Road in 1976 and built a small house there in the early 80’s. While still working in Maryland, Tim spent much time at his place which is located on the Friars Hole Cave Preserve. Retiring in 2011 as a Lieutenant with the Anne Arundel County Police Department in Maryland, Tim finally took the plunge and moved from Maryland to his real home on Droop Mountain. He began working as the Pocahontas County Reporter for Allegheny Mountain Radio in January of 2015.
