Marlinton’s Newest Restaurant

Dories Restaurant recently closed in Marlinton; however, Dennis and Shelly Wilfong have recently opened the S & D Diner at the same location, 828 2nd Avenue in Marlinton. Their phone number is 304-7994390. We sat down with Shelly in the busy restaurant on the second day they were open and asked her to give us a little information about this new diner.

Shelly, can you tell our listeners a little about why you and Dennis decided to open the S & D Diner?

“It came about because I’ve always wanted to run my own diner-restaurant type of thing” said Wilfong. I was a stay-at-home mom and raised all the kids. The opportunity came and we jumped on it.”

When did it open?

“Yesterday, June 15th.”

Can you tell me a little about the menu?

“We offer burgers, fries, hot dogs -we have corn dogs. We haven’t had any specials yet, I’m working on that. We’ll have that available next week. I make homemade biscuits every morning. We have beans and corn bread, and I also make this quesadilla -pizza quesadilla that I made for my kids when they were little. It’s just pizza in a tortilla shell, and they loved it.”

Shelly, what are your hours and your breakfast hours?

“We serve breakfast all day. We are open Monday through Saturday from six a.m. to nine p.m. and Sundays 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.”

What do you think makes the S & D diner unique?

“We offer a family atmosphere. We want everybody who works here and everybody that comes here to feel like they are part of our family. My son and my daughter-in-law work here.”

Is there anything else you would like to add to this?

“Well, we hope to be a fixture here in Marlinton for years to come. We hope everybody enjoys our food. Thank you.”

So, the S & D Diner offers another dinning option for you when you are in Marlinton.
