Pocahontas Board of Education Meeting Agenda, Tuesday, 1-26-21

The Pocahontas County Board of Education’s Tuesday, January 26th regular meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. at the Board Office Conference Room in Buckeye. Because of the pandemic, public attendance at this meeting will be limited. The public may also listen to the meeting by joining the Zoom Meeting and an audio link to the meting may also be found on the Pocahontas County Board of Education’s Website, http://pocahontas-k12.wvnet.edu/boe/. Following the normal opening procedures, the board will hear any delegations from the public, and then receive the Superintendent’s report and any special recognitions he wishes to offer.

Next, the board will hear an informational report from Alan Gibson, the Student Representative, and reports on athletics from Kristy Tritapoe, Julie Shiflet, and Nebraska Scotchie.

After approving routine financial matters and reports, the board will take up the following miscellaneous items:

  • Approval to accept the Local Policy Providing Paid COVID-19 Leave for up to 10 days retroactive to January 1, 2021.
  • Approval of Frontier Internet speed upgrades.
  • The board will conduct a review of the school re-entry plan to consider making recommendations and/or revisions.
  • Approval of recommended Service and Professional Personnel actions.

The Board Members will then conduct Matters of the Board discussions among the members, prior to adjourning.

Tim is the WVMR News Reporter. Tim is a native of Maryland who started coming to Pocahontas County in the 1970’s as a caver. He bought land on Droop Mountain off Jacox Road in 1976 and built a small house there in the early 80’s. While still working in Maryland, Tim spent much time at his place which is located on the Friars Hole Cave Preserve. Retiring in 2011 as a Lieutenant with the Anne Arundel County Police Department in Maryland, Tim finally took the plunge and moved from Maryland to his real home on Droop Mountain. He began working as the Pocahontas County Reporter for Allegheny Mountain Radio in January of 2015.
