Pocahontas County Board Of Education Meeting Agenda, Monday, 3-27-17

On Monday, March 27th, the Pocahontas County Board of Education will hold a regular Board of Education meeting beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Pocahontas County High School with the following agenda.

At 5:00 p.m. there will be a Reduction in Force Hearing followed by a public hearing on next year’s school calendar.

The regular meeting will then begin with approval of the minutes from the last Board meeting.

After approving of this agenda, the Board will hear comments from the public – called “Delegations.”

Next the Board will receive Mr. Beam’s Superintendent’s Report and any Special Recognitions he wishes to offer.

The Board will receive informational reports from Kayla Gibson, the PCHS Student Representative to the Board of Education and Michael Sweeny.

The Board will then examine and consider approval for payment of a number of routine vender bills and consider approval of grant awards; employee payroll budget adjustments; and bank reconciliations

They will consider approval of a Wide Area Network Request for Proposal from frontier communications.

The Board will consider appointing Tonya Warder as a volunteer Assistant Softball Coach and appointing David L. Moore as a volunteer Assistant Baseball Coach, both at PCHS.

The Board will consider the submission to the SBA of a Major Improvement Project funding request for Pocahontas County High School in the amount of $925,443.

They will consider approval for Justin Kerr and Patrick Gibson to transport 13 students by school bus and personal vehicle to Fairmont WV on March 30th to compete in the SkillsUSA Competitions.

They will consider approval for Shannon Alderman, Gina Hardesty and Devan Simmons to transport Hillsboro Elementary School 3rd, 4th and 5th graders by charter bus for a day trip to Kings Dominion on May 30th. This will be entirely paid for by the End of the Year Trip fund and by fund raising.

The Board will consider approval to transport 8th grade students from Marlinton Middle School by charter bus to Pigeon Forge /Gatlinburg, Tennessee on May 24-26, 2017. All costs to be paid for by fundraising.

Following consideration of a Personnel Agenda which can be found along with the actual agenda for this meeting from the Board of Education at our website –www.alleghenymountainradio.org, the Board members will each have the opportunity to present comments to the Board, after which the meeting will be adjourned.

Tim is the WVMR News Reporter. Tim is a native of Maryland who started coming to Pocahontas County in the 1970’s as a caver. He bought land on Droop Mountain off Jacox Road in 1976 and built a small house there in the early 80’s. While still working in Maryland, Tim spent much time at his place which is located on the Friars Hole Cave Preserve. Retiring in 2011 as a Lieutenant with the Anne Arundel County Police Department in Maryland, Tim finally took the plunge and moved from Maryland to his real home on Droop Mountain. He began working as the Pocahontas County Reporter for Allegheny Mountain Radio in January of 2015.
