Navy, National Guard Begin Helicopter Salvage Operation
The National Radio Astronomy Observatory in Green Bank is serving as the staging ground and command center for the airlift and transport of the wreckage of the Knighthawk helicopter that crashed near Cheat Mountain in February. Blackhawk and Chinook helicopter crews began landing at the observatory late Tuesday morning to prepare for the operation.

At a ceremony at Snowshoe Mountain Resort Saturday, the WV National Guard recognized Pocahontas County First Responders for their invaluable help in a rescue of 17 military personnel whose helicopter crashed on a remote county mountainside in February.
