2019 Highland Medical Center Health Fair

“My name is Capitola Jackson, I am the health educator at Highland Medical Center.”

“My name is Casey Hull, and I am the Chief Operations Officer at Highland Medical Center.”

“We are here to tell you all about the 2019 Health Fair, happening on April 16 and 17th, starting at 7:00 am and ending at 11:00 am.

“Each department at HMC will be offering different services and/or information on these days: the dental health department will be offering limited oral evaluations and panoramic x-rays; Behavioral Health will be offering nutritional information and current program offerings; Physical Therapy will be doing introductions to the Wellness Center, and also showing off our new equipment, recently added; a representative will be on site to assist patients with the Medicaid expansion process, should they have questions.”

“The Health Fair offers a unique chance for people to come in and see, at a glance, what every department of HMC has to offer. Some of those offerings include labs that we have drawn in the past. Most of the services and screenings that we offer at the health fair are free – there are two different types of labs that have a cost associated with them. For those planning on having blood work, please no food or drinks after midnight on the night prior – water is okay when taking evening and morning medications. If you would like to participate in the Health Fair, please call 540-468-6400 to schedule an appointment.

“There will be a mobile mammography van on site on April 17th. If you are uninsured, this is a free service. The van will be on site from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm – people will need to call RMH directly to schedule this screening.

“Also, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office will be offering an onsite drug take back program – please no sharps or needles.”

In addition to these services and screenings, healthy snacks and appetizers prepared by Ms. Jackson will also be available, including mini quiche, sausage balls, protein bars and a fruit and veggie bar.
