2019 Highland Youth Philanthropy Council
“I’m Ethan Smith – and I’m Sydney Armstrong.”
These Highland teens are members of “The Highland County Youth Philanthropy Council” and they had more information on this year’s YPC program.
“The Youth Philanthropy Council is an organization that helps non-profits. We start by sending out applications to our local non-profits. Once the applications are returned, we review them, and interview the organizations, and make a decision for which applicants should receive grants.”
“As in previous years, the YPC program is made possible by funding from The Community Foundation of Central Blue Ridge. The total we have to award is $20,000.
“Applications for projects of all sizes are encouraged, but we give a minimum of an award for $500, and the maximum award we will give is $7,500.”
“We have five target areas for our YPC – they are: access to healthy foods; transportation for all residents of Highland County; access to mental health services; assistance for victims of domestic violence; and childcare located within Highland.”
“For further information, please contact a YPC member, or Jessica Durovy at 468-1922, or programs@htcnet.org.”
“The due date for the applications is Friday, February 1st, at 5:00 pm.”
