60th Annual Highland County Fair Livestock Results From Cattle And Hog Show

Monterey, VA – The 2011 Highland County Fair Cattle & Hog show took place Wednesday, August 31st at 1 pm at the livestock barns. Robert Moyers of Doe Hill, VA won Master Senior Beef Showmanship. Senior Class for ages 16-17 Beef Showmanship winner is Michael Humphries of Monterey, VA.

Rhonda Obaugh of McDowell, VA was awarded with the Beef Showmanship winner for ages 14-15, and Katie Amirault of Doe Hill, VA was bestowed with the honor for the Junior class. The Novice Class winner was Ashley Hiner of Monterey, VA.

Champion Market Steer winner was Katie Amirault and Reserve Champion Market Steer was awarded to Brett Will of Blue Grass, VA. Breeding Heifer Champion was awarded to Rhonda Obaugh, Commercial Reserve Champion to Luke Leech of Mill Gap, VA, and his brother David Leech won Registered Champion Heifer. Grand Champion Feeder Steer winner was Rhonda Obaugh and Reserve Champion was awarded to Ashley Hiner.

In addition, many of the youth that participated in the cattle show also showed in the Hog show. David Leech won Master Hog Showmanship, Michael Humphries won Senior Hog Showmanship, Katie Amirault won Junior Hog Showmanship, and for the Novice Class the winner was Gracie Blanchard of Mill Gap, VA.
Market Hog Champion class was awarded to Tabitha Hiner of McDowell, VA and Burgundy Hicks of Blue Grass, VA received the Reserve Champion Hog honors.

Heather grew up in the Richmond, Virginia, area and now lives in Arbovale, West Virginia with her husband Chuck. Heather is a wonderful flute player, and choir director for Arbovale UMC.
