Highland Schools to Offer Grief Support
The loss of someone young, vital and beloved strikes a small community like Highland County extremely hard, and coping with that loss can be a difficult process. It strikes hardest among those who knew the loved one personally, and outside of the family, no one knows them better than the fellow classmates and students who interacted with them daily. The Highland School system is taking steps to help their students deal with the recent devastating loss of a special student, Brooke Jewell Harper. Dr. Thomas Schott, school superintendent said “In times of grief it is necessary for our community to pull together to give whatever support we can to those needing it. When school resumes on Tuesday January 3, 2017 we will have counselors, support staff, and clergy available to all students and staff of our Highland Schools family. “
