Second Wind/VPAS Events For November
Older area citizens have much to be thankful for in November with the list of activities planned by VAPS through its Second Wind program.
While there will be no Staunton shopping trip this month, a 10:00 am exit time is planned on Tuesday, November 21st for a shopping trip to Franklin WV, with lunch at the Gateway Restaurant in Riverton. Home pick-up is also available. There is a $5.00 round trip cost.
Digital assistance will be available on two Tuesdays, November 14th and 28th, at the Highland County Public Library with individual technical assistance given with Computers with Deborah from 10:00 am to Noon.
Elders can also get moving or get quiet during the month, with numerous classes and workshops facilitated by VPAS and the Highland Medical Center, including martial arts, seated and regular yoga, and zumba. Weight management support group meetings will be held every Wednesday, except the 22nd, from 5:00 – 6:00 pm at the Highland Medical Center, and Nutrition Basics, Diabetes Management and Medications tele-communications classes will also be offered each Tuesday from 1:00 – 3:00 pm at HMC. The Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care Partner Support Group meets there Tuesday, November 14th from 1:00 – 2:30.
The Highland Senior Services/VPAS office will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 23rd and 24th, and the Meals on Wheels kitchen is closed on the 23rd.
