Scuffletown Performs in Monterey March 12
As part of Maple Festival entertainment, the Highland County Arts Council is presenting another show in it’s Second Saturday at Seven Concert Series. Scuffletown will perform Saturday night, March 12. Described as a high energy duo, Scuffletown is Marc Carraway and John Whitlow, who’ve been playing together for about 25 years.
“We do a real variety, just anything we can do acoustically,” says March Carraway. “So, a lot of roots music, blues, and things like that. We also incorporate like some swing and jazz. We do world music, like reggae. We do a lot of our own songs as well, a lot of originals.”
That’s Marc Carraway. He sings and plays guitar. John Whitlow plays harmonica, flute and accordion.
“And it’s all with our own twist,” says John Whitlow. “We interpret it and give it what we call a Scuffletown twist.”

“It’s a blast,” says Carraway. “We have so much fun.”
“And I mean we’re passionate about it,” says Whitlow.

“For me personally, it’s important, it’s such a big part of my life,” says Whitlow. “It just enriches my life. We typically, if we’re hanging out, we have instruments in our hands. So, it’s just a part of who we are and I can’t imagine not doing it. “
“When we’ve had a good show, which is most of our shows I think, we feel like we’ve provided something for the people who’ve showed up,” says Carraway. “They leave happy, so that makes us happy.”
Scuffletown performs Saturday, March 12, at 7 p.m. at The Highland Center in Monterey. Admission is $10.
