Bath Dollar General Store A No-Go

Healing Springs, VA – Plans have fallen through for the proposed Dollar General Store in Bath County. Rolf Brunner has requested that the rezoning application for his property at 5155 Sam Snead Highway be withdrawn from consideration.

According to Bath Planning and Zoning Administrator Sherry Ryder, a culvert that runs through the property was determined by the developer to be a hindrance to construction and too costly to move.

Brunner applied to rezone 1.2 acres from medium density residential to general business for the purpose of constructing a Dollar General store in the Healing Springs area.

The Bath Planning Commission had approved the rezoning request and the request had been scheduled for a public hearing at the Bath Board of Supervisors’ August meeting.
