How To Help Those Affected By Montcoal Mining Tragedy

Montcoal, WV – West Virginians understand well the heritage and risks of coal mining. And when a disaster such as the explosion at the Upper Big Branch mine occurs, West Virginians are there to show compassion and do what they can to help. With this in mind, the WV Council of Churches has established the Montcoal Mining Disaster Fund, according to a press release from WV Governor Joe Manchin’s office. They are now accepting donations to be distributed among the families of miners who were killed in Monday’s explosion at the Perfomance Coal Company mine.

The WV Council of Churches is a 130 year institution, and currently includes 14 Christian denominations and close to 600,000 members. Anyone wishing to make a monetary contribution to the Montcoal Fund should contact Council at 304-344-3141 or visit them on the web at www.wvcc.org for details.
