Allegheny Power Reschedules June Outages For Memorial Day, May 31st

Monterey, VA – Allegheny Power will interrupt electric service in eastern Pocahontas County and parts of Highland County on Monday, May 31st . Please note this is a change – this power interruption had been previously scheduled for June 1st.

The planned service interruption will affect approximately 2,700 customers. Allegheny Power regrets the inconvenience on Memorial Day, but work is necessary as part of the sale of Allegheny’s Virginia distribution operations to Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative. Allegheny plans on transferring its Virginia customers in Highland County to Shenandoah Valley on June 1.

The outage scheduled for Monday, May 31st will last from 8am to 4pm.

In Pocahontas, the following areas will be affected:

The town of Durbin, including several miles north along Rt 44 to the community of Olive
Rt 250 between Durbin and Bartow
Rt 28 from Bartow north to the Camp Pocahontas 4-H camp
Rt 92 from Bartow south to Arbovale
Rt 6 area from Arbovale south to Galford Run

Areas affected in Highland are:

Rt 250 west of Monterey through the communities of Blue Grass, New Hampden, Meadowdale to the WV state line
Town of Monterey
Rt 220 north to the WV state line
Rt 220 south to Vanderpool
RT 84 from Vanderpool south to Mill Gap
RT 250 from Monterey south to McDowell
Rt 654 between McDowell and Doe Hill.
