August 1, 2023 Pocahontas County Commission Agenda
The Pocahontas County Commission will meet at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at their office in the Marlinton Courthouse with this agenda.
Following their routine opening procedures, at 8:30 a.m., the county commissioners will approve any Exoneration Orders and approve the minutes of the last meeting.
At 8:35 a.m., there will be an opportunity for public comments to the commissioners.
At 8:40 Region 4’s Donna Ward will ask for the following regarding the PMH Roof/HVAC project: A release of funds; Intent to bid; a Commission resolution for payment approval; and approval of the Project Extension/Grant Agreement.
At 9:00 Ken Gator of the Snowshoe Resort Community District will present a letter to the commission.
At 9:15 they will consider the following board appointments:
- Donald McNeel and Christine Rebinski to 3-year terms on the Pocahontas County EMS.
- Charlie Sheets to a 3-year term on the Greenbrier Valley Economic Development Corporation (GBEDC.)
- Linda Adams, Louise Burner, and Teresa Dunbrack to 3-year terms on the Dramas, Fairs and Festival Board
At 9:45, Tim Wade of the Huntersville Historical Society will update the commissioners on the Old County Clerk’s Office project in Huntersville.
At 10:00 the Commissioners will consider contribution requests from the Tucker Community Foundation’s Run for It; and from Bryans Battery, Inc. for the Battle of Droop Mountain Civil War Reenactment on October 14 and 15, 2023.
The commissioners will also take up and consider action on the following items which do not have specific times assigned to them.
- Final settlements and orders.
- Mail items and concerns.
- Emergency Management director Mike O’Brien will ask the commissioners to approve the $6,000 Homeland Security Grant Program’s Grant for Hazardous Material Commodity Flow Study; and he will also ask for permission to pursue a grant for the replacement of their current communications trailer.
- The commissioners will consider approval of a budget revision and resolution regarding the Coal Severance Adjustment to their Unencumbered Balance.
- Any updates regarding the East Fork Tannery sewer hookup.
- They will also receive an update on the Pocahontas County Ambulance Authority’s DEA License and its operational start date, as well as approving John Rebinski as a volunteer member.
- They will receive any updates that Attorney Stephen Skinner may provide regarding the Opioid Litigation Settlement.
- The commissioners will approve invoices then adjourn the meeting.
