Barbara Lay Takes Over As CEO Of Pocahontas Memorial Hospital This Fall

Marlinton, WV – Barbara Lay, current CEO of Minnie Hamilton Health Systems, will find herself in a similar position for a different organization this fall – namely Pocahontas Memorial Hospital. The hospital’s Board of Trustees made the official announcement about Lay’s selection on June 30th. She will take over as CEO of PMH on October 1st.

According to a press release sent out on July 1st, Lay has served as CEO for Minnie Hamilton, a critical access hospital/federally qualified health center since 1995. During her tenure, Minnie Hamilton grew from a small clinic with thirteen employees and revenues of less than one million dollars, to a business that now employs 200 people and generates more than sixteen million dollars in revenue.

Lay is already well familiar with PMH, as she and her team have been working with the hospital staff since August 2010, following the departure of former CEO Don Muhlenthaler. Since that time, changes implemented at Lay’s behest have dramatically improved the bottom line of the hospital, this year finishing in the black for the first time in many years.

Lay says she’s amazed by the commitment and dedication of the hospital staff and the board. She says she’s excited to start her new journey this fall.
Board of Trustees Chairman Dr. Bob Must says Lay brings the experience and positive leadership that the hospital needs.
