Bath County Chooses New Tourism Director

Millboro, VA – The new Tourism Director has been selected for Bath County. MaryAnn “Maggie” Anderson of Millboro has accepted the position effective Monday, August 16.

Anderson served as Vice President and Executive Director for the National Association of Theatre Owners from 1988-2008. She and her husband are partners in Anderson Consulting, which provides guidance on the feasibility and construction of movie theaters.

Anderson holds a Bachelors degree in Art History from the University of California at Riverside and a Masters degree in Library Science from the University of Oregon at Eugene. Anderson began her career as a Librarian for the Burbank Public Library where she developed the Warner Research Collection, a specialized library dedicated to the motion picture production industry. She was a manager at CBS Television in the docudrama division. She has also served on several non-profit boards.

Anderson will be working with the community to implement the first phase of the Bath County Tourism Plan which was adopted by the Board of Supervisors in January. Hiring a full time tourism director was the first recommendation in the plan, which was created by the office of economic development at Virginia Tech.

Heather is our Program Director and Traffic Manager. She started with Allegheny Mountain Radio as a volunteer deejay. She then joined the AMR staff in February of 2007. Heather grew up in the Richmond, Virginia, area and now lives in Arbovale, West Virginia with her husband Chuck. Heather is a wonderful flute player, and choir director for Arbovale UMC. You can hear Heather along with Chuck on Tuesday nights from 6 to 8pm as they host two hours of jazz on Something Different.
