Bath County HS Achievement Booster Club Scholarship Golf Tournament Is Saturday April 28.

Hot Springs, VA – The Achievement Booster Club at Bath County High School is hard at work planning its annual Scholarship Golf Tournament. Each year the tournament provides the club with money to award scholarships to Bath County High School seniors. The club tries to give out as many as scholarships as possible and often they are $750.00 to $1,000.00 per recipient. Roy Burns is the Acting President of the Achievement Booster Club this year.

“We just feel like the best hope for our future is our young people,” says Burns. “And it is getting harder and harder financially for them to further their education. And we would like to help as much as we can to help them out financially and give them an incentive to strive for higher goals.”

The Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, April 28 at the Lower Cascades Golf Course. Tee off is 11am. The cost is $300 per four person team and there will be a full meal and awards ceremony.

“We’re always looking for more hole sponsors, reception sponsors,” says Burns. “Even if somebody doesn’t want to sponsor a complete hole or do a reception sponsor[ship], any kind of door prizes. Ways to not only advertise for their business, but help us give out gifts to the guys that play at the golf tournament.”

“We are still looking for teams to sign up; we can sign up as many as thirty teams. And participation, if anybody would like to come out and just join us the day of the event, even if they are not playing in the tournament. They can come out and see exactly how much fun it is and help the club out.”

All proceeds from the golf tournament will be used to award this year’s seniors with scholarships. But the Achievement Booster Club also works all year long to encourage students in all grades at Bath County High School.

“We do reward all of the students at the high school for making the A/B honor roll, for attendance,” says Burns. “We hold reward parties every nine weeks for those who make the A/B honor roll. We also provide the teachers complimentary meals, especially on the days that they have parent teacher conferences and they have to stay at the high school all day long.”

“We do our best to help out the eighth graders as they are coming up to the high school each year. We hold an eighth grade orientation meal and help out the school to usher in the new eighth grade class.”

The registration deadline for the Achievement Booster Club’s Scholarship Golf Tournament is Saturday April 21. For more information or to register, call Roy Burns at 540-839-2611 or call Bath County High School Principal Sarah Rowe, at the school.
