Bath School Board seeks new member.

Hot Springs. Va. – The Bath School Board is looking for another member. At Monday’s school board close out meeting, School Superintendent Sue Hirsh explained that the board has until July 20 to appoint a member to fill the vacant Millboro district seat. Allison Hicklin resigned from that seat at the June 5th school board meeting, announcing that she was going to apply for the principal position at Millboro Elementary School. She was appointed as the Millboro principal at Monday’s close out meeting. The school board set a meeting for Tuesday July 17 at 6pm in order to make an appointment for the Millboro district seat. The meeting will be held in Millboro, but the location has not been determined. Any qualified voter residing in the Millboro district can apply for the seat and will serve until a special election is held in November. Those interested should contact School Superintendent Sue Hirsh.

The board approved a revised digital device policy for all Bath schools on Monday. The policy states that digital devices such as cell phones, ipods, mp3 players and tablets are to remain off and out of sight during the instructional day, which is from the first bell to the last bell. The use of tablets during class will be left up to teacher discretion. The first violation of the policy will result in the digital device being confiscated for one day, for the second violation the digital device will be confiscated for one week and for the third violation the device will be confiscated for thirty days and the student will receive in school suspension.

And on Monday the board accepted the resignation of high school teachers Dave McGee and Gail McGee.

And the board made the following sports coaching appointments:
Martha Carter, volleyball varsity head coach
Steve Shaver, boys basketball varsity head coach
Zach Woodzell, boys basketball varsity assistant coach
Christina Oliver, JV boys basketball head coach and
Mark Fry, boys basketball volunteer.

Keith Lindsay was appointed as girls varsity basketball head coach
Connie Forsyth, girls basketball varsity assistant coach.
Olivia Haney, scholastic bowl head coach
Kris Phillips, varsity baseball head coach
Joey Altizer, varsity baseball assistant coach
Mike Bollinger, tennis head coach
Alex Miller, boys soccer head coach and
Juan Rocha as girls soccer head coach.

Sarah Burns was appointed as a high school aide and office assistant and Angie Keyser was appointed as a middle school teacher at Valley Elementary.

And the board authorized Superintendent Sue Hirsh to appoint and or accept resignations of specific personnel during the summer.
