Bath shop local day is Saturday December 15

Hot Springs, Va. – Plans are underway in Bath County for the annual Share the Season shop local day. Each year the Chamber of Commerce pulls together member businesses and promotes special events and sales that are planned, while encouraging everyone to shop locally during the holiday season. Melinda Nichols is the Executive Director at the County of Bath Chamber of Commerce.

“Well we try to encourage people to shop locally, because that’s what keeps these people in business,” says Nichols. “The small businesses are here. They do really well in the in season when there’s a lot of visitors, but in the off season it gets a lot harder and it’s just important all year long to keep them busy and to keep business flowing into their doors. The more dollars we can keep locally, the more businesses we can keep in business and the more people we can keep that work.”

This year businesses are offering holiday events and special discounts on Saturday December 15th, the day of the Bath Christmas parade in Hot Springs.
“In Hot Springs, we’ve got Laura’s Boutique and All Things New Consignment Shop,” says Nichols. “They’re going to be doing a special holiday sale along with some refreshments. We also have Christie & Co. Photography. She’s going to do free pictures with Christmas characters after the parade. In Mitchelltown, we’ve got Mountain Laurel Creations. I know they’ll be doing refreshments and they’re also having a special 10% off all purchases over $25. The Bath Animal Welfare Thrift Store, they will be open and that’s a neat place to shop.”

Along with all these other special events, the Chamber of Commerce will be hosting an open house December 15th from noon until 4.

“Warm Springs, I’ve heard from Gallery at Seven Oaks,” says Nichols. “She’s going to have a special holiday sale and she’s also going to have some holiday refreshments. And then the Milk House Market, she’s doing 10% off everything but prepared foods for that day.”

The Chamber also has entry forms available for the Christmas parade. Completed forms should be turned into the Hot Springs Fire Department.
