Bridge At Laurel Fork Campground Closing For Replacement

Bartow, WV – A much needed bridge replacement at the Laurel Fork campground means that those who use campground may have to modify their travel routes in that area this spring. The bridge is located at the southeastern edge of the campground and will be closed to all traffic during construction that may begin as early as May 2nd.

The main campground will remain open, as will the adjacent overflow area on the other side of the bridge. However, visitors will not be able to drive between the two areas while the bridge work is taking place.

Signs will be placed at all main access points to the camp that’s a popular destination for summer visitors. Greenbrier District Ranger Jack Tribble says they regret the closure, but it’s necessary to replace the existing bridge with a new, safer one as quickly as possible. They hope to complete the bridge replacement work by the end of July, weather permitting.
