Cascades Classic golf tournament is Sunday October 12

Get ready to tee off at The Cascades Classic golf tournament.  It’s a fundraiser for the Bath Chamber of Commerce and it offers a promotion opportunity for businesses that participate as sponsors and it offers a good opportunity for a fun day of golf for players.

Emily Plecker is the Executive Director of the Bath County Chamber of Commerce.

“We want as many teams as we can get,” says Plecker.  “It would be awesome if we could get thirty teams out there to play and as many sponsors as possible.  It’s going to be mid October and the leaves are going to be changing.  It’s going to be beautiful.  So if just for that, it’ll be a good day.”

Last year twenty three teams participated.  Plecker hopes to see thirty teams this year, which is the capacity for the tournament.

“We are still looking for sponsors,” says Plecker. “We’re looking for hole sponsors and people to donate door prizes.  So if any of the local businesses are interested, we strongly encourage them to contact us here at the chamber. We usually have about twenty five to thirty sponsors per year, which is great since we do have a hundred and fifty chamber members.  So that’s a good percentage of the business community coming out and supporting us.”

The Cascades Classic tournament is an annual fundraiser that’s become a tradition.  Winners will get to choose from among the prizes, which are free rounds of golf at various courses.   The tournament will be held rain or shine.

“I think it’s really fun for the community,” says Plecker.  “And it’s a great way for local businesses to support chamber initiatives and to be able to promote themselves throughout the county and to Homestead guests as well.  I think it’s a great way for the community to come together and that’s why we keep doing it.”

As the new chamber director, this is Plecker’s first Cascades Classic tournament.

“I’ve definitely gotten my feet wet with finishing up with Wings and Wheels,” says Plecker. “It’s been a lot of fun.  It’s been an interesting new experience in planning these big events, but I’ve had a lot of support from the chamber board in helping to do solicitations and organize these things.  So it’s been a great experience.”

The 2014 Cascades Classic golf tournament will be held Sunday, October 12th beginning at 1pm at The Cascades at The Homestead in Hot Springs.

“It’s $400 per foursome for the golf tournament,” says Plecker.  “That’s an all-inclusive fee. That’s entry, green, carts and food.  The Homestead will cater and we’ll have some barbecue and things like that after the tournament.”

Teams are encouraged to register on or before Monday, October 6th .    After October 6th, the cost will be $420 per team.  Teams can also register the day of the tournament.
