Claire Collins comments on Summer
This is Claire Collins, Chair of the Bath County Board of Supervisors,
The lazy, hazy days of summer are here. School is out and road resurfacing has been noticeable and appreciated in Bath County. This is the time of year for farmers’ markets, grilling, outdoor fun and increased socializing with family, friends and neighbors. In Bath County this summer becomes election season with 22 people having qualified as candidates to be on the November 3rd ballot, vying for your vote for a specific local office including Clerk of Court, Commonwealth’s Attorney, Sheriff, Commissioner of Revenue, Treasurer, Mountain District Soil and Water Conservation, Board of Supervisors, and School Board. Whether opposed or unopposed, you will see and hear from these candidates from now until the election. As a registered voter, ask candidates questions and express what needs to be addressed. If you are not registered to vote and want to be, contact the Registrar’s Office at the Bath County Courthouse. The summer effort of the Board of Supervisors will focus on working with County administration and staff to update the County employee handbook and personnel manual and the employee performance evaluation system. Our first effort will begin with two public work sessions held on July 1st and 15th . These are important work sessions for reviewing potential processes, procedures, and policies for accountable and exemplary professional service to community. We invite you to attend these work sessions to learn more about the effort of the Board. Have an enjoyable summer. See you out and about Bath County!
