Claire’s Cakes Expanding to Bath

 

Claire’s Cakes and Cafe is teaming up with the Haynes family to open a second location in Bath County, taking over the former Duck In spot on Main Street in Hot Springs.

The beloved Duck In is being reimagined as a lively café and community hub — a place that will honor its legacy while bringing new energy to Main Street.

Clair Sax, owner of Claire’s Cakes and Cafe, said “We’re thrilled to partner with the Haynes family on this venture…..The Duck In has held a special place in the community for years, and we’re excited to blend that history with our vision for a cozy, welcoming café where everyone feels at home.”

The new café will offer Claire’s signature drinks and treats — from espresso and coffee to baked goods and a full menu of breakfast and lunch items. And continuing one of Duck In’s newer traditions, the café will also serve ice cream. “Our goal is to be more than just a café,” Sax shared. “We want to be a gathering place — somewhere people can meet for book clubs, knitting groups, playdates, or just a moment to unwind. We’re all about creating connection and joy through good food and warm hospitality.”

Claire’s plans to host events and workshops at the new location as well, including chocolate tastings and other hands-on experiences, and added that “This expansion is a natural extension of our mission to bring people together through great food and great service.”

After 35 years of ownership, building owner Pat Haynes expressed confidence in the new chapter ahead. “It feels good to hand the reins to someone who truly cares about this place and the people it serves. Claire is bringing fresh life to Main Street, and we’re excited for what’s ahead.”

Since opening in 2018, Claire’s Cakes and Cafe has served Staunton, Harrisonburg, Highland, and Bath counties with custom cakes, catering, and a commitment to quality. This second location marks a major milestone in the café’s journey — one rooted in community, creativity, and growth.

An official opening date for the new Claire’s Cakes and Cafe in Bath will be announced soon.
