County Commission President defeated in primary; winner says the election was about sewer project

Marlinton, WV – Attorney Martin Saffer, of Hillsboro, defeated County Commission President Joel Callison in the Democratic Primary Tuesday in Pocahontas County. Callison has served on the Commission for twelve years. He was seeking his third term. Saffer says he hopes the election symbolizes a referendum on the Snowshoe Sewer Project, particularly the potential use of eminent domain to obtain a site for the treatment plant.
