Earl Ray Tomblin Loses Vote In Pocahontas, But Wins Overall Race

Marlinton, Wv – Pocahontas County voters chose Republican candidate Bill Maloney over Democrat Earl Ray Tomblin for Governor in Tuesday’s election with final unofficial vote totals of 616 for Maloney and 537 for Tomblin, or a difference of just 79 votes. Bob Henry Baber (Mountain Party) received 101 votes, Marla Dee Ingels (Independant) received 27 votes and Harry V. Bertram (America’s Third Party or ATP) received 5 votes.

Twenty-four other counties also gave Maloney the nod, but it was not enough to take the election from WV Senate President and Acting Governor Tomblin. After 9pm Tuesday night, Tomblin was projected to be the winner. Voter turnout in Pocahontas was 27.3% with 1311 ballots cast.
