Found human remains are killer Hackney

Hot Springs, Va. –

The human remains found in Bath County are those of Beacher Hackney. According to Bath County Sheriff Robert Plecker, the remains have been positively identified as Hackney by the state medical examiner’s office.

Hackney has not been seen since March 2009 when he shot and killed two of his supervisors at The Homestead. The skeletal remains were discovered on September 2. They were found in the woods on private property near the Lower Cascades golf course, approximately five miles from The Homestead.

Beacher Hackney shot and killed Ronnie Stinnett and Dwight Kerr in The Homestead’s kitchen the evening of March 21, 2009. In the confusion following the shooting, he walked out of the hotel and disappeared. Hackney was featured on the national TV show America’s Most Wanted in an effort to gain clues to his whereabouts.

Bath County Sheriff Robert Plecker has scheduled a press conference for Tuesday afternoon at 4. Tune into Noon Hour on Wednesday to hear a report from that press conference.
