Garth Newel Music Center Begins Search For New Executive Director

Warm Springs, VA – Garth Newel Music Center in Bath County is starting the search for a new executive director. Janet Karpus, the Center’s former executive director left the position on April 7. She had been on the job for six months. Nancy Coddington, President of the Garth Newel Board of Directors, says Karpus returned to Kalamazoo, Michigan to address significant legal matters involving a former employer.

Jay Batley of Millboro Springs has been appointed interim executive director of Garth Newel. He’s served on Garth Newel’s board of directors for six years. Coddington hopes to have a new director in place by the end of the summer. A full schedule of concerts is in place for the summer, such as the Memorial Day Music Holiday and the Virginia Blues and jazz Festival in June.

Coddington is confident that with the help of excellent staff, volunteers, patrons and world class musicians, the center will weather this small bump in the road.
