Grammy Winner Dom Flemons Performs At Garth Newel

On Monday, June 26th, I interviewed Grammy Award winning and Two-Time Emmy nominee “American Songster” Dom Flemons. Dom rose to fame as one of the founding members of the Carolina Chocolate Drops. After a Grammy Award and 8+ years as a member in one of the most famous string bands in the world, Dom set out to carve his own path in music.

Dom’s newest album Traveling Wildfire, released in April, seamlessly mixes his love of country, western, blues, Americana, bluegrass and folk background into one cohesive project. When asked about this album Dom replied, “I hope people will be able to hear the different phases of my life through the lyrics and feel the energy that fuels my creativity within the songs. The past few years for me have been a time of deep reflection and meditation. I hope that the album will light a fire of inspiration inside everyone who experiences it.”

Dom will be in concert at the Garth Newel Music Center Saturday, July 1st at 7:30 pm. Below is a link to our conversation. Ticket prices and more information about Garth Newel’s upcoming calendar of events can be found at garthnewel.org.
