Highland County Board of Supervisors April 6 Meeting – Part 2

This is part two of coverage from the Highland County Board of Supervisors meeting held on April 6th.

School Superintendent Dr. Thomas Schott presented the proposed school budget for next year.   The total is a little over $4,965,400.   There is an increase of $30,000, but Dr. Schott said they are asking for almost $88,000 less from the county, due to revenue received from the CARES Act.

The Board reappointed Michael Bedwell to a second term to represent Highland on the Blue Ridge Community College Local Board.

It was announced that the Commonwealth Transportation Board will be holding virtual public meetings on projects and programs in the fiscal year 2022-2027 Six Year Improvement Program.  The meetings will be held Thursday, April 29 at 6pm.

In 2006 she became an AMR employee and worked in Bath County for eight years as the WCHG Station Coordinator and then as the news reporter there. She began working in radio while in college and has stayed connected to radio, in one way or another, for more than thirty years. She grew up in Staunton, Virginia, while spending a lot of time on her family’s farm in Deerfield, Virginia. She enjoys spending time outside, watching old TV shows and movies and tending to her chickens.
