Highland Farmers Market to Continue into Fall
The Highland Farmers Market has been the place to be on Friday afternoons during the summer. With grilled to order food and a variety of musical acts performing, the scene has been set for fun… alongside amazing produce, local meats, and delicacies and delights from area vendors.
The market will continue into fall, so if you haven’t had a chance to make it out yet, there’s still time to grab some goodies and meet neighbors and friends in the Highland Center pavilion.
“We conclude on the Friday of Hands and Harvest and the final market is always on the courthouse lawn.”
That’s outgoing Highland Center Executive Director Elizabeth Lohr-Myers who I met up with recently to talk about the Farmers Market and the new additions for this year. Hands and Harvest will be October 11-13 this year and the market moves to the courthouse lawn to be in the center of it all.
This year, the market has welcomed more live music and added in dinners. There have also been educational experiences and speakers. This will continue through the rest of the season.
“It does feel like the market is more active with live music almost every week and meals available. So I do think it really contributes to the atmosphere.”
Some new vendors have also added to the ambiance:
“We have a couple of new ones this year: Sarah’s Sweets, with Sarah Donaldson, Tinley’s Little Treasures, and we’re selling cheese on commission from Ballerino Creamery.”
Come out and see the market for yourself before October 11 in the Highland Center Pavillion from 3:30 to 6 p.m. every Friday afternoon.
