Highland Farmers Market Vendor Meeting Scheduled

Plans are getting started for the upcoming season of the Highland Farmers Market in Monterey.   An organizational vendor meeting has been scheduled.  Mary Parham, the Farmers Market Manager, has more.

“We are currently in the process of inviting vendors to sign up for the season, or at least be informed about the Farmers Market season, and know that they can be a part of it on a market by market basis,” says Parham.  “So we are hosting, The Highland Center, is hosting a market vendor meeting, or a potential market vendor meeting, for those who are interested to come out to kind of meet and greet, to get to look at the space and see what spots you might like to set up in, see other vendors and to bring up any questions or concerns you have about last season or the season ahead.  So, it’s an information meeting as well as an opportunity to sign up to reserve your spot as a vendor.  This meeting will be happening on Friday, April 29 at 5pm at The Highland Center pavilion.  For those who cannot make it to that meeting you can also reach out to us directly by emailing farmersmarket@thehighlandcenter.org for more information.”

Some vendors will be offering CSA shares this year through the farmers market.

“It’s a community supported agriculture share,” says Parham.  “So, community members can sign up with farms at the beginning of the season to pay for a full season worth of produce.  So, every week they will show up to market and their bag will already be packed.  We’ll list all of that week’s exciting offerings.  So, you sign up for a certain number of weeks to take part, take a share of the bounty if you will, so if the farm does better the idea is that you’ll get a little more.  So, it’s an economical way to support your local farmer by allowing them a budget at the beginning of their season, as well as to ensure that you have fresh produce ready for you when you show up to market every week.”

The Highland Farmers Market is open to everyone, local producers, bakers, farmers, crafters, anyone who makes products locally.  Vendors don’t have to have a business; small vendors are welcome.   Vendors can sign up for the season, to attend every week, or can attend occasionally.

“For anyone who is interested in being a part of the Highland Farmers Market this season you can reach out to the Highland Center Market Manager directly at farmersmarket@thehighlandcenter.org ,” says Parham.  “You can also give us a call at 540-468-1922 for more information.   We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at the market this year.”

The Highland Farmers Market will be held on Fridays from 3:30 to 6 at The Highland Center pavilion in Monterey.  The market season runs from May 27 through October 7.
