Ibbie Hedrick Talks Business With Highland County EDA

Monterey, Va – The Highland County Economic Development Authority meeting Tuesday evening featured invited speaker Ibbie Hedrick, Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling’s Director of Communications and Business Community Liason. Three members of the Bath County Industrial Development Authority were also in attendance. Hedrick says Bolling was directly appointed by Governor Bob McDonnell to oversee business development and other support services in Virginia.

The Governor has formed and Economic Development and Jobs Creation Commission headed up by the Lt. Governor and Senior Economic Advisor Bob Sledd. This 64 member commission is looking to develop strategies to accelerate Virginia’s economic growth. So far the plan appears to be working since Virginia’s economy is thought to be one of those leading the recovery in the eastern United States.

In other business, the EDA discussed the need for an upscale campground in Highland County and will pursue the matter in future meetings. The August meeting of the Highland County Economic Development Authority will be combined with the EDA Tourism subcommittee meetings on July 27, August 23 and August 24 at the Highland Center in Monterey.
