Ice Storm

Frost, WV – Some people found their cars Wednesday morning encased in ice. Ice fell throughout the region Tuesday evening, heavier in some places than in others.

Our weather observer Abe Pursley at Bacova, reported a quarter inch of ice accumulation.

“Oh, it wasn’t as bad as they said it was going to be,” he said, “It mostly froze on cold spots, like metal. We just stayed in. Didn’t have to go nowhere.”

Other areas saw a wintry mix, with a half inch of sleet and snow reported from Mill Gap and an inch and a quarter of wintry mix at McDowell.

Power was out in spots, including parts of Warm Springs, Mitchelltown, and Monterey. Most of that was restored by midday Wednesday.
