Kinnfolk Brings Celtic Tunes to the Highland County Arts Council’s Second Saturday Concert in August

The Highland County Arts Council’s Second Saturday Concert for August will be held on August 10. This outdoor concert will take place at the Jones House Garden in Monterey as the annual McCoy Sisters Memorial Concert. I got the chance to chat with the husband and wife duo of Josh and Julie Kinn who will be performing as the band Kinnfolk.

Kinnfolk has Josh on octave mandolin and Julie playing the bodhrán or Irish drum. These instruments blend with their smooth vocal harmonies into Celtic folk music from the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. From sea shanties and working songs, to traditional tunes and Old Time favorites, Kinnfolk’s fresh take on classics blends seamlessly with their original compositions. They share stories as enduring as tartan, spinning yarns steeped in Appalachian charm and enjoying playful banter with the audience. Their August 10 show promises to feel like a kitchen party, where everyone is family, and there’s always room for a dancer.

Join the Highland County Arts Council for the McCoy Sisters Memorial Concert on August 10 at 7 p.m. in the Jones House Garden on Main Street in Monterey. For more information, visit highlandcountyartscouncil.org.
