Larnell Starkey & the Spiritual Seven to Entertain During Hands & Harvest Festival

The Highland County Arts Council’s 2nd Saturday in October program coincides with the Highland County Hands & Harvest Festival, and will feature Larnell Starkey & the Spiritual Seven. Visitors and members are invited to come out to the Highland Center at 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 12 to hear this talented group of gospel singers known by many as the “Gospel Temptations.” Larnell Starkey & the Spiritual Seven are proud to be a part of Virginia’s history, and have been entertaining audiences for over 53 years.

This concert is sponsored not only by the Highland County Arts Council, with support from the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, but also by area churches including Monterey Presbyterian Church, Beulah Presbyterian Church, Highland Baptist Church, and the Church of the Good Shepherd. This means there will be no charge for entry to the concert.

“This group was here a couple of years ago during Hands & Harvest. Everyone enjoyed it so much, it was a group we wanted to come back again,” said Donna Bedwell, president of the Highland County Arts Council board. “They are a large group, full of energy and put on a good show. It’s a little different from the usual bands we provide. A lot of the churches often have a gospel group come in during a service or an evening performance, but this is a chance for everyone to come together.”

The Hands & Harvest Festival celebrates the beauty and bounty of fall in beautiful Highland County. This is your chance to enjoy a fun family-friendly weekend visiting working farms, seeing arts and crafts, and enjoying delicious food set amidst outstanding fall foliage. The Arts Council is pleased to provide a wonderful gospel concert for this festival. Take in the beautiful scenery, community events, scrumptious food, and then wrap up your day with a great evening of music with Larnell Starkey & the Spiritual Seven on Saturday, October 12 at 4 p.m. in the Highland Center.
