Local Basketball Playoffs Underway

Frost, West Virginia – In local basketball action, the Bath County Lady Chargers defeated the Highland Lady Rams in the Pioneer District quarterfinals Tuesday night ,41-12. Alexa Faraone led the Chargers with 9 points and Jailyn Ford scored 8 for Bath. Burgundy Hicks led the Rams with 5 points. The Lady Chargers play the James River Knights at Parry McCluer High School on Thursday night in the district semi-finals.
Bath Coach Keith Lindsay and his Lady Chargers are now 13-9 overall and the Knights, 20-4. The Knights defeated Bath in Hot Springs on January 27 by a score of 45-30.
The Pocahontas County boys defeated Richwood Tuesday night in Richwood, 61-54. Dillon Kelley was red hot and led the Warriors with 25 points. The Warriors have won three in a row and improve to improve to 8-9 overall. Pocahontas has a rematch with Richwood on February 17 in Dunmore.
The Potomac Valley Conference champions Pocahontas Lady Warriors start their sectional playoffs on February 20 at 7 p.m., with a home game against Valley Fayette. The Lady Warriors are 18-4 overall and the Greyhounds, 6-13. The game will be broadcast on WVMR FM and WNMP.

Heather grew up in the Richmond, Virginia, area and now lives in Arbovale, West Virginia with her husband Chuck. Heather is a wonderful flute player, and choir director for Arbovale UMC.
