Many Gives Thanks For Bath Community Thanksgiving Dinner
Hot Springs, VA – Thanksgiving Day is coming up and for many in Bath County that means a trip to the Hot Springs Fire House for the Bath Community Thanksgiving Dinner. Hella Armstrong is the volunteer who is organizing the dinner again this year.
“It has become a tradition in Bath County, everybody just loves it to get together” says Armstong. “And they haven’t seen people for a long time, they all have something to talk about and all have a great time, we all have a great time.”
If you plan to go, please bring a covered dish to share, if you’re able to. Turkey and drinks will be supplied, thanks to generous donations from within the community. And if you need a ride to the dinner, call 839-2139
“But I think it is wonderful if you are alone and have no family to get together and have a big dinner”says Armstrong “it wonderful to get together and join together as one big family on this day.”
Armstrong says it’s a big challenge organizing the event and collecting the donations of turkeys and drinks. But she says it’s fun to do and she has lots of volunteer help. And all the hard work makes for a wonderful day.
“Well it seems to be growing every year” she says. “We can seat about 120, but last year we had about 140 and 150 people there. We still had fun, even thought it was very crowded.”
The Bath Community Thanksgiving Dinner is Thanksgiving Day, Thursday November 25 at the Hot Springs fire house. Please bring a covered dish, if you’re able, and arrive by 11:30 so there’s time for setup before the meal begins at noon. For more information call Hella Armstrong at 839-2436.
