Medora’s Bakery and Restaurant Offers Sweet Treats

Millboro, VA – In Bath County, Medora’s Bakery and Restaurant is up and running providing homemade sweet treats along with sandwiches and meals. Medora’s opened in mid-July and owner Medora Vicars is enjoying the experience of having her own business. And the best part for her?

“The baking,” says Vicars. “I love it. And when you’re happy doing what you do, then it’s all good.”

Medora’s Bakery and Restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. A variety of sandwiches and meals are on the menu for dine in or carry out.

“I’ve always worked in food,” says Vicars. “I’ve always worked in a bakery or with food. I’ve always cooked. I love to cook and bake.”

And Medora’s specializes in pastries, cakes, cookies, pies and bread which are all made from scratch. And Medora’s will make custom cakes and take special orders.

“All the cakes and pies are made to order,” says Vicars. “They are not frozen or prepackaged. They are made when they are ordered so that they’re fresh when they come to you.”

When placing a special order, please give as much notice as you can.

“Twenty four hours is really good,” says Vicars. “I know sometimes people get in a pinch and sometimes it works out. I do try my best to make sure everybody’s happy.”

Medora’s Bakery and Restaurant has four employees. Vicars has put in some 18 hour days this fall with a busy Thanksgiving holiday and hunting season.

“Business has been real good,” says Vicars. “We have good days and bad, like everybody else. But overall I have nothing to complain about. I’m really happy. I’m satisfied. It’s better than I thought it was going to be.”

Vicars is from Emory, in southwest Virginia. She found Bath County, found an available location and decided to start her own business. She says everything has fallen into place.

“I love the area,” says Vicars. “It was beautiful. And the opportunity fell in my lap, so here we are.”

Medora’s Restaurant and Bakery is located at 25739 Mountain Valley Road in Millboro. That’s Route 39, in the old Ted’s Place.

Madora’s is open seven days a week, but just for lunch on Monday and Wednesday from 11 to 2.

On Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Medora’s is open from 7am to 9pm and on Sunday from 8 to 8. For more information, call 540-996-4060 or email medorasbakeryandrestaurant@yahoo.com
