Moments of Stillness Episode 10 Forest Bathing

Moments of Stillness – Episode 10: Forest Bathing

We spend so much of our lives surrounded by noise.
Notifications.
Deadlines.
Conversations that never seem to stop.

But the forest operates differently.

It doesn’t rush.
It doesn’t demand attention.
It simply exists — steady, quiet, and alive.

Episode 10 of Moments of Stillness, created by Noelle Corley, introduces listeners to the practice of forest bathing — the intentional act of slowing down and immersing yourself in the sights, sounds, and atmosphere of the natural world.

Despite the name, forest bathing has nothing to do with water.
It’s about presence.

This guided experience encourages listeners to pause, breathe deeply, and reconnect with the environment around them — the rustling leaves, the movement of wind through the trees, the feeling of the earth beneath their feet.

Research has shown that time spent in nature can help reduce stress, improve focus, and support emotional well-being. But beyond the science, there’s something deeper happening in moments like these.

The forest reminds us that not everything in life has to move fast.

As the series continues, Moments of Stillness remains focused on creating accessible, locally grounded programming shaped by the lived experiences of people throughout the Allegheny Highlands.

The program is part of Allegheny Mountain Radio’s ongoing work with the Listening Post Collective, supporting community-centered storytelling and wellness programming in rural Appalachia.

Take a moment. Step outside. And listen.
