Monterey Pool Opens For Second Season

Monterey, VA – Soon the air in Monterey will be filled with the sounds of children splashing and playing and the occasional lifeguard whistle. The Monterey pool opens for its second year of operation this weekend.

Highland County reporter Keith Carson spoke with Recreation Director Kenny Hiner about the pool and other recreation activities in the county this summer.

The pool season is expected to run through the end of September. After school starts, the pool will be open only on weekends. In order to lengthen the pool season, the Recreation Commission board is looking into solar options for heating the pool. For more information about the Monterey pool and other recreation opportunities in Highland county this summer call Kenny Hiner at 468-2978.
