Monterey Town Council Close Out Meeting & Budget Approval

The Monterey Town Council held it’s budget public hearing on June 17.  There is no increase in tax rates in the fiscal year 2022 budget.  Real estate is .18, mobile homes .48, personal property, machinery and tools and merchant capital are $1.40.    There were no comments during the budget public hearing.

The Town Council also held it’s annual close out meeting on June 29 and the FY 2022 budget was approved as presented.

Also at the close out meeting, Mayor Ronald Wimer reported that the Waiver of Environmental Quality for the water planning grant would be advertised for two weeks and public comment would then be open for thirty days to receive questions and comments.

Mayor Wimer also reported that a $30,000 check was received from the state as reimbursement from when Monterey lost water.   He said it would be returned back to the reserve fund.

And there was one public comment regarding the Town Council’s approval at the June 3rd meeting to purchase a new computer for the town office.  In response, Mayor Wimer said he has reworked the current computer, deleted programs not being used and is continuing to look at it.
