Monterey Town Council’s March Meeting

The Monterey Town Council held it’s monthly meeting on March 3.  Mayor Ronald Wimer gave an update on the water grant.  As reported at last month’s meeting, one bid was received for the work.  Mayor Wimer said that bid amount was $238,000, which was above the amount the town had received in the grant.  Mayor Wimer said after talking with the state’s Department of Water, it was suggested the town send a letter asking for additional funding to cover the cost.    The letter was sent and the additional amount was funded, so now the town has funding for the entire amount of the bid.    Mayor Wimer said the next step is receipt of a letter from the engineering firm Mattern and Craig, indicating the town should accept the bid.  The bid is for construction on improvements to the town’s water system, to upgrade it so usage and water flow will no longer be monitored manually.

The next meeting of the Monterey Town Council is scheduled for Thursday, April 7 at 7pm.
