Monterey Town Council’s May Meeting

At the May meeting of the Monterey Town Council, the public hearing for the proposed town budget was set for Thursday, June 2 at 7pm.  Council members had reviewed the budget, which was presented at last month’s meeting, and voted to present a revised version of it for public hearing.  Mayor Ronald Wimer explained that some revision had been done on the budget and that overall numbers did not change, but some categories were adjusted within the budget.

Mayor Wimer also gave an update on the water grant.  A pre-construction meeting was held in late April with the engineering firm Mattern and Craig, the contractor and others where paperwork and plans were reviewed.

Mayor Wimer reported on a grant that’s available from the American Rescue Plan Act.  He said the town would ask for a 100% match on the grant.  He said funding from the grant could be used for replacing water meters with new ones that automatically report usage and it could be used to look at a new well.  The Town Council voted to authorize a grant application.

The next meeting of the Monterey Town Council is Thursday, June 2, at 7pm at the Highland Modular Conference Center in Monterey.
