Monterey Town Council’s October Meeting

The Monterey Town Council held it’s monthly meeting on October 7.

Mayor Ron Wimer reported that paperwork had been submitted for water and sewer connections for the new Family Dollar store.   He said there is a sewer line that runs through part of the footprint of the planned building and he is working with store representatives to move that line and get some easements.  Wimer hopes to have an update on the progress by next month’s meeting.

Wimer also reported on the water improvement project grant.  He said the business plan will need some fine tuning and then they should be advertising soon to go out to bid.  He said Mattern and Craig engineering firm is working on that.

Town water bills were late going out for the recent billing cycle, due to a software problem.

There was also discussion about upgrading to new billing software.  Wimer said they are being asked to upgrade to a new version, which would store information remotely offsite, which has additional fees associated with it.  He said Town Council members want to put off purchasing new software as long as possible, as it’s a large expense for as small a town as Monterey is.

The Monterey Town Council’s next regular meeting is Thursday, November 4 at 7pm.
